TakeDesk
A folder of takes is easier to hand off when every file has a decision.
TakeDesk brings your script CSV and delivered WAVs into one local review desk. Listen to the takes for a line, approve one, or request a retake with a human reason and notes. Export a ZIP of the approved original WAVs with a manifest, plus a pickup CSV with the script text, direction, reason, and notes.
The WAV export is byte-identical to the originals you approved. Optional safe line-ID filenames change only the archive names. TakeDesk does not convert or process your audio.
What it does
- Import script CSVs with
lineID,character, andtext; optionaldirection. - Assign
lineID__take01.wavfiles using exact, case-sensitive line IDs, or map files manually. - Play and repeat takes, move between lines, and keep one approved take per line.
- Reject individual takes or undo rejection. Rejected takes cannot be approved or exported; rejection is preserved in saved reviews.
- Record pronunciation, text, acting, technical, or other pickup reasons and human notes.
- Filter review states and inspect missing or unmapped audio.
- Save a review JSON and reopen it with original WAVs. Relinking checks filename, byte size, and SHA-256 content identity so a different replacement cannot inherit an old approval.
- Download approved original WAVs, a manifest, and a pickup CSV.
WAV imports append to the current review. Duplicate exact filenames never replace a loaded or saved take automatically: remove the old entry explicitly to review a new replacement. The ZIP stores WAVs in approved/, alongside manifest.json and pickups.csv. Pickup rows include requested retakes and clearly labelled missing or unreviewed lines, so check their statuses before requesting new recordings.
Full version and useful demo
The full version accepts up to 100 script lines and 300 WAV files. Each WAV is limited to 16 MiB and 120 seconds. Total input is limited to 192 MiB; approved export audio is limited to 96 MiB. A decoded clip must fit a 48 MiB budget. All limits apply together.
The free HTML5 demo 1.0.1 supports local reviews of up to 5 script lines and 15 WAV files, with 32 MiB total input. Import your own CSV and supported WAVs or load the synthetic tone sample; listen, approve or request retakes, and export review and pickup CSVs. Each WAV is limited to 16 MiB and 120 seconds, with a 48 MiB decoded-clip budget. The paid edition adds the approved-original-WAV ZIP and manifest, plus review JSON saving, reopening, and audio relinking. The demo keeps decisions only until the page closes; export its CSVs and keep your original files.
Supported inputs are mono or stereo little-endian RIFF/WAVE files: PCM 16/24/32-bit or 32-bit IEEE float, 8–96 kHz. WAV_EXTENSIBLE, RF64, RIFX, compressed WAVs, and 8-bit PCM are unsupported. Unsupported or corrupt files report explicit errors and cannot be approved. Rejected, missing, unreviewed, and mismatched files are excluded from the approved export.
Script CSVs are limited to 1 MiB, and review JSON imports to 4 MiB. Field limits are 128 characters for a line ID, 256 for a character, 10,000 for script text, 2,000 for direction, and 4,000 for notes. The app reports violations explicitly.
Use a desktop browser. Large full-version reviews may require roughly 600 MiB of working memory; allow at least 1 GiB free browser memory for the full version and 512 MiB for the demo. The hard limits bound accepted data, and do not guarantee performance on every device. Split larger deliveries into separate reviews.
Local by design
Extract the buyer ZIP and open index.html. No installation, account, remote dependency, or upload is required. Your chosen files stay on your device. Review JSONs contain decisions, rejection states, and identity metadata, not audio. There is no autosave; save explicitly before closing the page. Keyboard shortcuts are suppressed in editable and focused controls, and changing the line stops the old playback.
TakeDesk is a receipt and review tool. It does not record, transcribe, synthesize or clone voices, perform automatic quality assessment or DSP, or integrate with a game engine. It does not send pickup requests to anyone. You make the listening decisions and deliver the files.
Free alternatives, including Replik, exist. TakeDesk is priced for the convenience of this small script-and-delivery workflow; it does not claim exclusive functionality or replace every production tool.
Included
- Offline HTML app, buyer manual, and license.
- A clearly labelled synthetic test-tone sample script and WAVs.
- Commercial-project app use with unlimited local projects; no per-export fee.
The sample audio consists of synthetic test tones, not human voices. It demonstrates the review and handoff workflow and does not demonstrate speech-quality analysis.
Compatibility
Tested with the extracted app opened locally (file://) on Windows 10, build 19045, in Chrome 153.0.8010.54 and Edge 154.0.4258.62, using dedicated automated browser sessions. The verified workflow includes script CSV and WAV imports, actual audio playback and repeat, stopping the old playback when switching lines, ZIP and review JSON downloads, review reimport, and changed-audio SHA-256 mismatch handling. A synthetic fixture with 100 lines and 300 takes was imported in the full version.
Firefox, Safari, macOS, Linux, and mobile browsers have not been tested. A narrow 390-pixel layout was checked in a desktop browser; that is a responsive-layout check, not a mobile-device compatibility test. This verification covers the local app. Try the free hosted demo with your own files before buying.
AI disclosure
Code, visual design, and documentation were developed with AI assistance. Included test audio is explicitly labelled synthetic test tones. The app contains no voice model, generated human speech, cloning feature, or remote AI service.
